July 30 LPC Update

July 30, 2021 11:00 AM | Anonymous member

Good morning everyone.

WHO PLAYS WHERE - AUGUST

The new courts at Osborn are ready and that’s going to let us modify our playing schedule.

Please review the attached information carefully. You might want to print out the new schedule for easy reference.

 Who Plays Where - August.pdf

We are moving all of our daytime reservations at Mehaffey to Osborn. 6 courts for Open Play on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8-10. We’ve also added all six courts for Open Play on Fridays!

Our largest group are the Recreational players that have been playing on four courts at Centennial on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Effective next week, we’re asking that group to move to Osborn and have all six courts available.

The Advanced group that has been playing on three courts at Mehaffey on Tuesdays and Thursdays will move to four courts at Centennial.

PICKLESKILLS CHALLENGE

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25 AND WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1,

5:30 – 8:30pm

Once again, the exciting conclusion of our PickleSkills sessions will culminate with our PickleSkills Challenge! This is an event for partners. You can choose your own partner and sign up together or we will pair you with a partner of comparable skill.  Both partners need to register. Please follow the “Partners Name” field instructions when you register on our website. Players may sign up to play on either 8/25 or 9/1, but not both. Teams will be divided into three levels: Recreational, Competitive, and Advanced. Standings will be calculated and the winners in each level will be announced.

Seven events will test each team’s abilities in key skill areas of our game: serves, returns, dinks, volleys, and 3rd shot drops. We will be working on the Skills Challenge events during the August PickleSkills sessions on Wednesday evenings, 8/4, 11, & 18. We currently have openings in both PickleSkills and the Skills Challenge. Be sure to sign up as soon as you can so you don’t miss out on the fun! There is no cost to participate in this event.  All costs are covered by your annual dues!

LPC CLUB TOURNAMENT

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 AND SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

Registration for the end-of-season LPC tournament will begin on August 1.

The tentative plan is to play PicklePals on Friday afternoon and evening, Mixed Doubles on Friday evening and Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles on Saturday.

PicklePals is a 6-player round-robin format. You can create your own group of six or we’ll help fill your group for you. PicklePals is intended to give a fun, but less stressful playing opportunity for those players that don’t want to play in a full tournament setting. If that sounds like the way you’d like to go, start working on getting your group together! Register for either the 4:00 – 6:30 session or the 6:30-9:00 session.

Players in the tournament will have an opportunity to play in Mixed Doubles on Friday and again in Men’s or Women’s Doubles on Saturday. You will sign up with a partner, so be sure you’ve got your partner lined up!

Remember, there is NO Cost to play in either PicklePals or the Tournament. The costs are covered by your annual dues! No non-LPC members are allowed to participate!

PARKS AND RECREATION SURVEY

I received this email from Dan Willadsen yesterday. Dan is the Parks Division Manager and the person most responsible for making the new courts at Osborn happen.

PLEASE TAKE 10 MINUTES AND COMPLETE THE SURVEY!

I want to share a link to all members of the Loveland Pickleball Club.  The City of Loveland Parks and Recreation Department has started working on a major update to our master plan.  Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?  Well, not the most thrilling sound to me, but the information we gather from Loveland citizens help us make decisions on where and what to spend tax dollars on.

For example, should the City build more pickleball courts, softball or baseball fields, or build a new outdoor pool.

Below is a link to our 32-question survey where we hope to gather as much information as possible to inform our master plan development.  This link takes you to the City’s website and the master plan update page.  Once there, please use the QR code to access the survey.

2021 Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update

Thank you for taking to the time to review this email, and I hope you share this survey with as many citizens as possible.

 Kind regards,

Dan Willadsen

NEIGHBORHOOD COURTESY

If you plan to play at Sunnyside or at Osborn, please do not start playing prior to 7:00am. The last thing we need is to create conflict with the neighbors by starting play at 6:00am. If you need to play early, please use Mehaffey or Centennial.

See you on the courts!
