    Hi all,

Here are the latest LPC updates:

    ANNUAL LPC MEETING

Our annual LPC meeting will be held at NORCO in late October.

We're reserving NORCO for 6 hours for open play and for the meeting. We'll send out more details as we get closer to the date. We'd love to see a great turnout from our members!

    RESERVED COURTS FOR LPC MEMBERS

September is the last month LPC reserves courts exclusively for our members. Here is the current court reservation schedule. Court reservations will not be extended into October this year. Get out and play while the weather is gorgeous!

RESERVED COURTS AT MEHAFFEY FOR 3.75+ PLAY

We've received a lot of feedback about needing courts for our most advanced members. This month, we're running a trial to see if we have enough advanced player interest to justify these reservations. Two courts are reserved at Mehaffey from 8 - 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Tuesday, September 6th. These additional courts are not in the published court reservation schedule.

    SIMON RESERVATIONS

Beginning September 3rd, you can reserve SIMON by contacting Debbie Jostes. Thank you Debbie!

    LPC PICKLEBALL COMMUNITY

Check out this article on BVM Sports! Two of our LPC members, Rich and Kathy Lawson, are featured.

    Hi all,

Here are the latest LPC Updates:

We Need Subs for Ladder League!

We need subs for all levels for Ladder League. Ladder League is played on Monday evenings from 6 - 8 p.m. at Osborn Park in Loveland. If you are interested in subbing, please contact Mark Henry, mehenry1002@gmail.com. Provide Mark with your self-rating and your preferred contact information (text, phone, email).

Delay Play at Sunnyside Until 8:00 a.m.

The Loveland Pickleball Club is requesting that pickleball play at Sunnyside not start until 8:00 am, including court cleanup with leaf blowers. Many of the older homes do not have air conditioning and leave their windows open at night. Recently, the noise has started before 7:00 am.

Adam Johnson and Greg Williams help you dominate your level of play and learn the strategies needed to take your game to the next level!

Adam and Greg compete nationally at the 5.0 level and are regulars on medal stands across the country.

The camps will be held August 23 - 25 depending on your level. For more information, see Strategic Pickleball Camp.

If you are interested in attending one of these camps, please sign up in the Event Calendar. Make sure you choose the correct level and time. We will not issue refunds unless a replacement is found. Registration is now open!

Fort Collins Pickleball Club is hosting a Dink Tournament on July 23rd. For more information, see FC Dink Tournament.

    Mehaffey Bathroom Vandalized

The Parks Department has advised that the handicap women's toilet at Mehaffey Park has been vandalized and is out of order. In addition, the bathrooms at Mehaffey Park now automatically close at 8:30 pm in an attempt to avoid further vandalism. Surveillance cameras have been installed.

    Hi all,

Here are the latest updates for LPC:

    LPC COURT RESERVATION POLL RESULTS

Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer our poll on court reservations. A summary of the poll results and the submitted comments can be found here.

Based on the comments we received, 2 additional courts have been reserved on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 - 10 am at Centennial for Advanced play starting in July.

Please take the time to read through the summary!

    VANN/YATES CLINIC

Tyler Vann and Kyle Yates are conducting 4 clinics next month with each clinic open to 16 people. You can sign up for one of these clinics today on our website in the Events Calendar.

For more information, see the clinic flyer.

If we are unable to fill all these spots with LPC members, we will open the clinics to the public.

    PICKLESKILLS

PickleSkills has been a great success again this year! For those of you participating in PickleSkills, please show up at 5:30 to help set up nets and courts and get ready to play. We need to make sure all players are checked in on their nets before 6:00 so we keep the drills running on time!

    LADDER LEAGUE

Once again, July Ladder League filled up in 24 hours. We will send out an announcement when the August Ladder League Registration is about to open. Put a reminder in your calendar to sign up the day registration opens if you want to play.

Also remember that Loveland Parks and Recreation offers Ladder Leagues on Saturday mornings at Osborn. You can find additional information in the Summer 2022 Activity Guide.

    UPDATE YOUR SELF-RATING

Please also remember to update your Self-rating in your Profile if necessary. This is especially important if you're signing up for LPC events. Instructions for updating your Profile are on the Home page of our website under the topic, Update Your Info.

    Hi all,

Here are the latest updates for LPC:

LOCK YOUR CAR AND SECURE YOUR VALUABLES

During the LPC Spring Mixer at Mehaffey Park, 3 vehicles were broken into and purses were stolen. Unfortunately, this also happened last year at both Centennial Park and Spring Canyon Park.

Always lock your vehicles! If you must leave valuables in your vehicle, keep them out of sight or inside locked compartments.

The Loveland Police Department was notified of the break-ins.

    RESERVERD COURTS FOR LPC MEMBERS

Please remember that LPC reserves courts every week so that LPC members can drop by and play. The court reservations are on our website. Each reservation has skill level recommendations, though all members are welcome. Please be kind and inclusive to others!

We'd appreciate it if you'd sign up on Playtime Scheduler for the LPC reserved sessions you attend. Sign up data helps us make better decisions on reservation times, locations, and skill levels. Thank you in advance!

In the next few days, we're going to send out a poll to all our active LPC members about your experiences with our reserved courts and play times. Your answers influence future court scheduling!

    LPC ADMINISTRATOR FOR PLAYTIME SCHEDULER

One of our LPC members very generously gave LPC a Playtime Scheduler Power User account so that we can post our reserved play times. We're looking for a volunteer to administer Playtime Scheduler for the LPC. Please respond to this email if you are interested.

    See you on the courts!

    December 28, 2021

    Good afternoon everyone,

    JOHN ERICKSON

I am sorry to report that John Erickson lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, December 26. John and his wife, Sue, were two of the original pickleball players in Loveland. Those of us that knew John remember that he always had a big smile on his face and was always happy to see you. He will be missed by everyone that came in contact with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sue and the family as they go through this difficult time.

    END OF THE YEAR

I will send my final end-of-the-year report to the membership next week. It has been another amazing year and it has been great to get to know you all and enjoy our time together on the courts.

    SUMMER CLINICS

We will begin registration for summer clinics within the next few weeks. We are nearly finalized on plans for three separate sets of clinics again this year.  Wendy Rexroth and Daniel Smith will be leading the initial pickleball camp the weekend of April 30 – May 1. Sarah Ansboury is planning to come back in 2022 and we hope to have her in June this year. Justin Hamel will bring his championship-winning style in late July or August.

All of our camps and clinics typically sell out very quickly, so be watching for the details when they come out.  Remember, your membership must be current to be able to register for the clinics!

    USED PADDLES

I know that Santa brought some of you a new paddle for Christmas and that you might now have an extra paddle.  There are always new people learning to play the game that are in need of gently used paddles. If you have one of those and would like to sell it, please let me know.

    PICKLEBALL CLASSES

Registration is open for people interested in learning how to play the game. Level 1 – Basic Pickleball Skills and Level 2 Mentored Play classes are now open for enrollment through the Chilson Center. Classes consist of four, two-hour sessions and cost $40 per person. The January classes are nearly full, but there is still plenty of room in the February Level 1 classes. February Level 2 classes are full.

Contact the Chilson front desk at 970-962-2386 for more information.

    SUMMER PICKLEBALL LEAGUES

The Parks Department is currently working on putting together plans for pickleball league play again this summer. If you have any thoughts and ideas for a format that you would like to see, please contact me as soon as possible. We’re planning to run three separate sessions again this summer, each session will be five weeks long.

    MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL

The first renewal notices began going out to members on December 18. You will receive a notice two weeks prior to your expiration date and again 24 hours prior.  Your membership will lapse on your membership date if you have not renewed by then. You will receive one final notice thirty days past your lapsed date and will be dropped from the membership roles after that. Please be sure to get your membership renewed on a timely basis so that you don’t miss out on any of the news from the Club.

    NEW YEARS PICKLEBALL RESOLUTIONS

    By Frank Cerabino

    1. I will not blame the wind every time I hit a drop-shot into the net – especially when playing indoors.
    2. I will call kitchen-line foot faults against myself at all times during rec play (until the score reaches 8.)
    3. I will not hit a hard smash directly at a vulnerable opponent who hasn’t already left a red mark on me during the same game.
    4. I will avoid taking issue with an opponent’s line call, and if that’s not possible, I will avoid saying something like, “Even Stevie Wonder would have called that in!”
    5. I will be kind to new players learning the game, because you never know: One day one of them might be your orthopedic surgeon.
    6. I will not pretend to inspect the ball for cracks after I muff an easy return.
    7. I will not judge a book by its cover, but if I find myself playing against somebody who has one of those suction cups on the end of the paddle handle, I will keep the ball low.
    8. When playing pickleball with somebody who stops play to answer cell phone calls on the court, I will not derisively refer to that person as “Prime Minister” for the rest of the session.
    9. I will spend less time watching YouTube pickleball videos while on Zoom calls at work.
    10. I will not buy more than three paddles this year, unless I win the lottery or improve my skill rating by more than half-a-point.

    See you on the courts!

    Bob
