Important Club Update: Transition to a 501(c)(7) Social Club
Dear Loveland Pickleball Club Members,
We're excited to share an important milestone in the continued growth of the Loveland Pickleball Club.
After careful consideration, the Board of Directors has voted to transition the club from a Limited Liability Company (LLC) to a simpler 501(c)(7) nonprofit social club. This change better reflects who we are today and positions our club for continued success in the years ahead.
Why are we making this change?
We've looked for ways to strengthen the club's long-term foundation. A 501(c)(7) social club allows us to:
· Better align our legal structure with our mission as a member-focused recreational organization.
· Provide a more sustainable organizational structure for future boards and club leadership.
· Enhance transparency and governance while maintaining our focus on serving our members.
· Update the bylaws to better reflect the Club's mission and Code of Conduct.
What does this mean for members?
For members, very little will change.
This transition primarily affects how the club is legally organized and governed behind the scenes.
You can expect the same:
· Friendly and welcoming community
· Leagues, tournaments, and social events
· Club communications
· Membership benefits
· Board's commitment to improving the club
What happens next?
The Board will complete the legal and administrative steps required to finalize the transition. We'll continue to keep members informed throughout the process.

LPC Meeting with the City of Loveland Summary
09/23/26 Meeting Recap: LPC and the City of Loveland Parks & Recreation
Recently, the City of Loveland Parks and Recreation Department invited the Loveland Pickleball Club (LPC) and the Loveland Tennis Association (LTA) to a joint meeting. The City wanted input from both clubs on our shared concerns: court space and court maintenance.
LPC was represented by Bob Monroe (LPC President for six years and a former City pickleball instructor), Frank Hayes (current LPC Treasurer), and Kristin Bennett (club member). Three LTA representatives also attended.
What we shared
The City opened the floor to both clubs. Bob described how LPC got started and how it has grown, from fewer than 50 founding members to a peak of over 700. Membership has since settled at just under 500, as more options have opened up, including the for-pay venues Picklr in Loveland and Zero-Zero-Two in Fort Collins, and new public courts in Berthoud.
Those 500 members are active. Reserved court times are very popular, as are special events like Ladder League and Dink Tournaments. LPC reserves over $20,000 in court time from the City each year.
Our needs
We told the City that 18 well-maintained courts would meet LPC's needs. Condition matters to our members. We had been reserving courts at Sunnyside, but stopped mid-summer because members didn't enjoy playing on the less-maintained courts.
We also talked about our past Spring and Fall events on the Mahaffey tennis courts, which have become less popular over time. Mahaffey's courts had been marked with dots for corners and edges, since USTA rules for LTA don't allow multiple sets of lines. We used masking tape to temporarily mark courts for pickleball, but setting up as many as 18 courts was a lot of work. The recent resurfacing of Mahaffey erased those dot markings, so we can no longer use those courts without significant additional prep. (This year's closing event will be held at Picklr.)
The LTA's perspective
The LTA explained that courts used for USTA-sanctioned events can't have pickleball lines. They shared similar concerns about court space and maintenance.
Repairs and funding
We discussed priorities for court repairs and maintenance. LPC also floated the idea of private funding to resurface the Centennial courts. The City said that would be difficult given how its budgeting works, but are open to further discussion.
