    Good morning everyone!

    WHO PLAYS WHERE

If you have not already done so, please download and print a copy of the July schedule from this link.

    Who Plays Where - July.doc

    SARAH ANSBOURY CLINICS

Ansboury clinics will be held at Mehaffey on Friday, July 23 through Sunday, July 25. Courts at Mehaffey will be very limited on Friday and Saturday mornings. Only using one court throughout the day on Sunday.

    PARKS DEPARTMENT SUMMER LEAGUE

There is still time to sign up for the new Saturday League that will begin play on July 10. Let me know if you'd like more information!

I have one 3.0 player looking for a partner. Please let me know ASAP if you would like to pair up to play.

    AUGUST EVENT REGISTRATION

Registration for August Events begins at 12:01am on July 1.

If you find that you need to cancel your registration after you've signed up, simply go back to the event on the website. It will say that you're Already Registered. Click on that and follow the directions to cancel your registration.

If you need to cancel a registration, please do so as soon as you can. That will make George and Mark's lives much easier!

    OSBORN UPDATE

Work on the courts at Osborn Park is nearly complete! The contractor is still waiting on delivery of the Acoustifence windscreens that will be installed to help with the sound mitigation. Unfortunately, there's no date on that delivery. Once the Acoustifence is installed, the courts will be available for play.

Our current plan is to reserve all six courts from Monday through Friday from 8am -10am for Club play. Schedule to follow once we know when the courts are ready!

    See you on the courts!

Good afternoon everyone. Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there!

    500 MEMBERS

On Wednesday, June 16, Colleen Turay joined the LPC and became member #500. A new milestone for the Club. Welcome to ALL of the 184 new members of the Club so far this year!

With all of these new players joining the Club, please be sure that you’re all going the extra mile to get to know each other. Be sure to wear your name tags!

For all of our new members, if you ever need any help understanding the playing schedule and the different opportunities available to you, please be sure to ask. My email address is at the bottom of all of our regular Club Updates.

    WHO PLAYS WHERE - JULY

Click here for the July schedule of Who Plays Where. This schedule is based on Osborn not being open. Once the new courts open, we will be adjusting our playing schedule and I will send an update to the July plan at that time.

    Who Plays Where - July.pdf

    OSBORN PARK COURTS

The contractor was due back out this week but has been delayed completing a project in Idaho. We hope to see their team back in Loveland any day and we’re still hoping the courts will be open for play in mid-July.

    PARKS DEPARTMENT LEAGUE PLAY

The July league will begin on July 17 and registration is now open. Lots of room for additional teams to sign up. There are divisions for ALL levels! This is a great chance for new players to meet more people and have a great time doing it!

If you’d like to play, but don’t have a partner, I can help you with that.

If you want to play, but you’re going to miss a Saturday, I’ve got a list of substitute players.

If you’d like to be on the substitute list, let me know that, too!

    BASIC PICKLEBALL SKILLS

The next round of Basic Pickleball Skills classes through the Parks Department will begin on Tuesday, July 6 and all three classes are full. Registration for the classes that begin in August is open and there is still room in the Tuesday, Thursday or Friday evening sessions. If you know anyone who wants to learn the game of pickleball, be sure to let them know!

Let me know if you would like more information.

    SIMON BALL MACHINE

Simon is available for any LPC member to check out and use a day. Only $10 per day, but you do have to transport Simon yourself.  Not much booked in July, so lots of dates available!

    FRANKLIN X-40 BALLS

We still have a lot of balls on hand for anyone that needs to purchase balls. Don’t be THAT guy who goes out on the court and expects everyone else to provide balls! $10 for a bag of 5.

    See you on the courts!

    Good morning everyone!

    CLINIC OPENINGS

    Joe Frasca

There is one spot available for a clinic with Joe Frasca this week. Thursday and Friday, June 10 and 11. 10am-noon both days. First Five Shots – Level 2. Cost is $140. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested!

    Sarah Ansboury

There are two spots open with Sarah on Saturday, July 24. 8am – noon. Cost is $165. Again, please let me know right away if you are interested.

    LADDER PLAY and PICKLESKILLS

If you have registered for Ladder Play or PickleSkills and find that you’re not going to be able to play after all, PLEASE CANCEL YOUR REGISTRATION RIGHT AWAY!  You guys are killing us having to make last minute changes to the groupings! Don’t send an email asking us to cancel your registration, simply go to the website and cancel your registration in the same spot where you registered in the first place. Mark and George will REALLY appreciate your help doing this!

    PLAYER ROTATION RECOMMENDATION

Mark Henry, Court Operations Director, suggests the following procedure for player rotation during LPC reserved times:

Use Paddle Saddles for incoming players.  Load paddles from left to right for incoming rotation queue.
Games- no time limit (no timers).  Play to 11, win by 2.

Games on all courts in use:
When the game is complete, the winners will remain on court and split (for next game).  Losers off the court and get into paddle saddle rotation queue for next play.  Two new players from the saddle rotation come in for the next game.
If a player has been on a court for 3 consecutive games (3 wins), then that player also needs to come off court and get into new paddle rotation.
Try to provide minimal disruption to games in play while coming on and off courts.
This rotation should be done on all courts in use as long as there is players waiting to play (paddle saddle queue).

An alternate play rotation if there is a large number of players waiting to play is:
Game complete- all four players come off the court and four new players from the paddle saddle queue come in for next game on the open court.

    PARKS DEPARTMENT LEAGUE PLAY

Play in the new Parks Department Saturday morning league began this weekend. There are 15 teams playing in the June league. Great morning of play and it sounds like everyone had a good time!

The July league will begin on July 17 and registration is now open. Lots of room for additional teams to sign up. There are divisions for ALL levels! This is a great chance for new players to meet more people and have a great time doing it!

    BASIC PICKLEBALL SKILLS

The next round of Basic Pickleball Skills classes through the Parks Department will begin on Tuesday, July 6. The Tuesday and Thursday classes are already full, but there is still room for 3 more players in the Friday evening class. If you know anyone who wants to learn the game of pickleball, be sure to let them know!

Let me know if you would like more information.

    See you on the courts!

    MEMORIAL DAY PLAY

The forecast for tomorrow doesn’t look great, but if the weather holds out, we’ve got some additional playing time scheduled for Monday morning. In addition to the regular three courts at Mehaffey, we’re planning to set up four portable nets and portable lines on tennis court #7. Maybe we’ll get lucky, so if the weather’s okay, come on out!

The Club has reserved tennis court #7 at Mehaffey on Monday morning from 8-10. We will be setting up 4 portable nets and portable lines. Come join us!

    PARKS DEPARTMENT SUMMER LEAGUES

Registration for the July league has begun and there is plenty of room for more teams.

We could use some people that are available occasionally to fill in as a substitute in the Saturday morning league play. Please let me know if you would be interested in being on the sub list.

    Good afternoon everyone!

    MAY MIXER

141 members of the LPC gathered at Mehaffey Park last Saturday for our annual Mixer.  Everyone participated in a round-robin style format and played like it was the World Championships. It’s been a year and a half since we able to do a big event and it was great to see so many of you in one place again!

Great job by MARK HENRY putting the event together!  A big thanks to his wife Lisa and Sandy and Bob Thayer for doing all the REAL work while Mark gets the glory!  Sleep is overrated, Mark! And the event could not have happened without the assistance of everyone that came out early and helped with all of the set up and those that stayed late and helped get everything cleaned up and put away.  Great team effort!

Congratulations to everyone for a great time and especially to all of our medalists!

    Gold Medal Winners

Jean Marsh, Gerry Cashman, Kathy Lawson, Jeff Ludwig, Steve Wideman, Joel Riley, Leo Grassens, Jill Dzubay, Ed Dyrek, Chuck Senig, Michelle O’Halloren, Chris McCarthy, Russ Cowart, Lisa Cech, David Brunacci, Tom Griesel, Garry Steffen, Diane Dynes, Stephen Greer, Kelly Quinn, Don Bergstrand, Chris Grant, Doug Klaudt, Wendy Woods

    Silver Medal Winners

Sergio Mestas, Steve Johanson, Lee Bennett, Paula Manzanares, Karen DeGeal, Dean Ikeda, Kathy Carlson, Nancy Macky, Linda Siegrist, Murray Stillway, Deb Stillway, Kim Rodehorst, Jim Haynes, George Richards, Craig Mortensen, Rick Antinora, Peter Schoon, Sharon McDaniel, Lara VanTress, Eve Schauer, Terry Fielding, Susan Law, Anne Luzano, Duane Chaloupka, Mike McGovern

This might be a good time for everyone to look at their ratings.  If you did well, maybe you need to bump up .25. If you didn’t do so well, maybe drop down .25.

    LPC SHIRTS AND HATS

We’re barely more than halfway to the number of shirts we need ordered to be able to place the order. If you’re considering placing an order, you have until May 31. If there’s not sufficient interest, we’ll have to cancel the order for this year and try again in 2022. Let me know if you have any questions.

    PARKS DEPARTMENT SATURDAY LEAGUE

There is still room for one more team in the Saturday morning league that will begin play on June 5. If you’re interested, you need to sign up soon. Let me know if you need more information.

    MENTORED PLAY

The Thursday evening Mentored Play sessions beginning June 3 are going to have some additional spaces available. If you are a new player and need some coaching, this might be an opportunity for you. This is not open for drop-in participation; you need to be approved to participate. Talk to me ASAP if you would like to be considered. This program is FREE. Mentored Play in June will be held at Sunnyside from 6-8pm on all four courts!

    BEGINNER CLASSES

The Basic Skills classes for June are all full. Ten people each on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. These classes will be held on Centennial courts 1 & 2 from 6-8pm throughout the month of June.

There are still spots available on each night for the July sessions. You can talk to Pam McGee, George Richards or Bob Monroe for more information. Registration is through the Parks Department and the cost for the class is $40.

    OSBORN UPDATE

Several factors have caused a delay in the construction work on the new courts at Osborn Park. Concrete was poured last Thursday and the courts should be ready for play in mid to late July. We’ll be playing on them before you know it!

    See you on the courts!

    Good morning everyone!

SPRING MIXER AND SPRING CLUB MEETING

We’ve had a few cancellations, so there is still room to sign up for the Mixer on May 15. There is room for a couple of people in each session. You must register by Thursday evening if you want to participate.

The annual LPC meeting will be held between sessions. We should start about 10:15am. Please try to attend!

    EVENT REGISTRATION AND CANCELLATION

Please take a moment to log into the Loveland Pickleball Club website and update your personal information. Please change your password to protect your account. We will be using your “Self-Assessed Rating” during the summer events and also it will help you with the “Who Plays Where” drop-in play during the week. More information on self-assessed rating at the PLAY webpage.

The Loveland Pickleball Club is having about 60 Events this summer, rather than replying to an email you will go to the website or your “Wild Apricot for Members” phone app and register. Events have a limit on the number of members per session, most events have multiple sessions. There will be a waitlist on most events if you can only attend that specific event. If an event is full check the second session to see if it is available and register.

Please manage your events responsibly, if you are on the waitlist for the first session and are registered for the second session, it’s likely you could be playing at both. If you cannot make a session, go to that event and CANCEL to allow other members on the waitlist to get in. You will always receive an automated email letting you know if your status has changed for an event.

    WHO PLAYS WHERE - JUNE

We try to create some guidelines that players can use, but remember, these are only guidelines. Any LPC member is welcome to play on any LPC-reserved courts. This is a SOCIAL group. No one should EVER ask another member to leave because they are at the wrong skill session!

YOU DO NOT NEED TO SIGN UP OR REGISTER TO ATTEND ANY OF THESE CLUB PLAY TIMES. SIMPLY SHOW UP AND PLAY! Remember, the Loveland Pickleball Club does NOT use Playtime Scheduler! If you are relying on PTS to show you where to play, you will be missing out.

After working through May, we have made some adjustments to the schedule for June.

Mondays and Wednesdays are designated for Open Play. Open Play is for all LPC members of any skill level. This is a chance for newer or lower-level players to play with other players that might be significantly better. A challenge for lower players and an opportunity for upper players to help lower-level players get better!

Tuesdays and Thursdays, four courts at CENTENNIAL are designated for lower-level (Up thru 2.75) to be able to play RECREATIONALLY together as a group. There are currently 122 LPC members who have designated themselves as 2.75 or lower.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, four courts at SUNNYSIDE are designated for mid-level (3.0) to be able to play COMPETITIVELY together as a group. There are currently 166 LPC members who have designated themselves as 3.0.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, three courts at MEHAFFEY are designated for upper-level (3.25+) to be able to play ADVANCED together as a group. There are currently 125 LPC members who have designated themselves as 3.25+.

    CODE OF CONDUCT

Congratulations to all for completing another interesting winter off-season. As we begin the new summer season, I would just like to remind everyone why we play this great game. We’re all out here to have fun! So remember the Code of Conduct that we’ve all agreed to:

The mission of the LPC is to promote the growth and development of pickleball.  This sport will succeed best if its players embrace the values of good sportsmanship.  It is essential that LPC members, in promoting this mission, model good behavior, lead by example, display respect and show self-control.

    ·         I will treat others with respect and exhibit fairness and honesty in my dealings with others.

    ·         I will be a positive influence on members and others to encourage teamwork and fair play.

    ·         I will be respectful of those players on the court and avoid unnecessary interruptions by non-players.

    ·         I will accept responsibility for guests and family members in attendance at events.

    ·         I will not engage in any behavior that would endanger the health, safety or well-being of others.

    ·         I will not engage in the use of profanity on the court or near court areas.

    ·         I will not engage in unacceptable behavior, arguing, threatening, or otherwise unsportsmanlike conduct or encourage others to do so.

    ·         I will not engage in physical abuse, threats or harassment.

    See you on the courts!

    Good afternoon everyone!

As we near the beginning of our official outdoor season on May 1, I want to be sure that everyone has the latest information about most of the aspects of LPC operations for the summer.  Because there is so much information, I’m breaking the details of each topic into separate files which you can access from this email or review on our website at any time. Open the .pdf file following each topic.

    WHO PLAYS WHERE?

This is perhaps the area that creates the most questions throughout the summer. Where should I play?

I would ask everyone to please read this document very carefully. And also remember, that any current LPC member is welcome to play at any of the scheduled play times! We will likely adjust the playing opportunities once the new courts at Osborn are open.

    Who_Plays_Where.pdf

SPRING MIXER AND SPRING CLUB MEETING

There is still room to sign up for the Mixer on May 15. The 8:00 session is nearly full, but there is still quite a lot of room in the 11:00 session. The annual LPC meeting will be held between sessions. Please try to attend!

These are the skill level definitions as set forth by the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA). Review this information carefully and be sure that you are comfortable with the rating you have given yourself. That is the rating that we will use when setting up groupings for PickleSkills, Mixer and Summer Leagues. You can change your rating at any time on our website. Simply edit your profile information. YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR RATING TO USE .25 AND .75!
