    Good morning everyone.

    PICKLEPALS AND CLUB TOURNAMENT

Time is running out to register for the upcoming LPC PicklePals and Tournament! Registration closes on September 10 for PicklePals and Mixed Doubles, September 11 for Men’s and Women’s Doubles. Register now if you want to play. Be sure that BOTH partners have registered.

A reminder about Friday evening PicklePals. This is intended for players that don’t yet feel comfortable enough to play in a full tournament setting. You can put together your own group of five or six players that you want to play with. Or you can sign up as an individual and I’ll put you into a compatible group.

PicklePals and Mixed Doubles on Friday, Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles on Saturday.  Register on our website.  Players of ALL skill levels are welcome!

ALL PLAYERS MUST BE CURRENT LPC MEMBERS.

We need to borrow portable nets to set up all of the courts that we need. Contact Mark Henry at mehenry1002@gmail.com or George Richards at geo7rich@gmail.com

    PICKLEBALL OPEN HOUSE – TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21. 8:00AM – 8:00PM

We will be co-hosting a Pickleball Open House with NORCO Volleyball on Tuesday, September 21.  There will be ten courts set up on their new, state-of-the-art TeraFlex courts. Come out and see this new facility that will be available for indoor play this winter.

    ·         Simon X Ball Machine will be operating on one court throughout the day.

Please register for morning, afternoon or evening in the Events Section of our website. Come as often as you want, stay as long as you want and play as much as you want!

    August 13, 2021

    Good morning everyone!

    THANK-YOU EMAIL

The new courts at Osborn turned out beautifully. If you haven’t had a chance to play there yet, give it a try sometime! It would be very nice for everyone in the Club to send a short Thank-You email to Elizabeth Kayl for making the courts happen.  Elizabeth is the Director of the Parks and Recreation Depart, the BIG cheese! The final cost for the new courts is approaching $250,000 and without Elizabeth and her entire team, that money would not have been spent on pickleball courts.

So please take a moment to send a brief thank-you to her at:

    Elizabeth. Kayl@cityofloveland.org

    PARKS DEPARTMENT LEAGUE

There is still plenty of room for more teams to sign up for the final session of the Parks Department Saturday morning league that begins on August 21.  Registration ends next week, so sign up soon if you want to play.  I also have one player looking for a partner, so let me know if you are a single and looking to play.

    PICKLEPALS AND CLUB TOURNAMENT

There is still lots of room for players in the PicklePals and Club Tournament that is scheduled for Friday, September 17 and Saturday, September 18.  PicklePals and Mixed Doubles on Friday, Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles on Saturday.  Register on our website.

All players MUST be LPC members!

    A LOSS IN OUR FAMILY

I’m sorry to report that Kim Normandin’s husband, Pat, passed away on Tuesday, August 10. Many of you know Kim from coaching many sessions of PickleSkills every summer. Our sincere condolences go out to Kim and her family.

    SAVE THE DATE!

We are working on our next project to provide additional courts for playing time. This time, we’re working on Indoor Courts! NORCO Volleyball is a 60,000 square foot facility in NE Loveland that has the ability to provide up to 10 indoor courts.

NORCO and the Loveland Pickleball Club are teaming up to host an Open House on Tuesday, September 21 at their facility. We’ll have ten courts set up all day and evening for all of you to come out and see and play.

Lots more details as we get closer, but mark the date on your calendar and plan to come out to see this really cool new option for indoor play this winter!

    2022 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Summer is winding down and that means it’s time to be looking forward and planning 2022. As you all know, the Club has had another year of explosive growth.  We’ve had more than 250 new players join the Club this year and our total membership currently stands at 574.

As the Club grows, it is critical that we maintain and build on the programs that have been so popular year after year. PickleSkills, Ladder Play, Mentored Play, Tournaments and just regular playing times. But those things don’t just happen on their own. It takes a lot of volunteers to help teach, coach and organize the activities.

We need people interested in serving on the Board of Directors. We need people willing to help coach at PickleSkills and we need people willing to help mentor new players at our Mentored sessions.  We need volunteers to help plan and execute our Spring Mixer and our September tournament.

That means YOU! I would like to see everyone volunteer in some capacity. With 500+ people helping, all of the jobs become much easier!

Please let me or any of the members of the Board know where you are available to help!

    BOARD RESIGNATION

Jeff Ludwig has resigned his position as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Club. We thank Jeff for his hard work and dedication to pickleball and to the Loveland Pickleball Club.

    Good morning everyone.

    WHO PLAYS WHERE - AUGUST

The new courts at Osborn are ready and that’s going to let us modify our playing schedule.

Please review the attached information carefully. You might want to print out the new schedule for easy reference.

     Who Plays Where - August.pdf

We are moving all of our daytime reservations at Mehaffey to Osborn. 6 courts for Open Play on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8-10. We’ve also added all six courts for Open Play on Fridays!

Our largest group are the Recreational players that have been playing on four courts at Centennial on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Effective next week, we’re asking that group to move to Osborn and have all six courts available.

The Advanced group that has been playing on three courts at Mehaffey on Tuesdays and Thursdays will move to four courts at Centennial.

    PICKLESKILLS CHALLENGE

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25 AND WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1,

    5:30 – 8:30pm

Once again, the exciting conclusion of our PickleSkills sessions will culminate with our PickleSkills Challenge! This is an event for partners. You can choose your own partner and sign up together or we will pair you with a partner of comparable skill.  Both partners need to register. Please follow the “Partners Name” field instructions when you register on our website. Players may sign up to play on either 8/25 or 9/1, but not both. Teams will be divided into three levels: Recreational, Competitive, and Advanced. Standings will be calculated and the winners in each level will be announced.

Seven events will test each team’s abilities in key skill areas of our game: serves, returns, dinks, volleys, and 3rd shot drops. We will be working on the Skills Challenge events during the August PickleSkills sessions on Wednesday evenings, 8/4, 11, & 18. We currently have openings in both PickleSkills and the Skills Challenge. Be sure to sign up as soon as you can so you don’t miss out on the fun! There is no cost to participate in this event.  All costs are covered by your annual dues!

    LPC CLUB TOURNAMENT

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 AND SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

Registration for the end-of-season LPC tournament will begin on August 1.

The tentative plan is to play PicklePals on Friday afternoon and evening, Mixed Doubles on Friday evening and Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles on Saturday.

PicklePals is a 6-player round-robin format. You can create your own group of six or we’ll help fill your group for you. PicklePals is intended to give a fun, but less stressful playing opportunity for those players that don’t want to play in a full tournament setting. If that sounds like the way you’d like to go, start working on getting your group together! Register for either the 4:00 – 6:30 session or the 6:30-9:00 session.

Players in the tournament will have an opportunity to play in Mixed Doubles on Friday and again in Men’s or Women’s Doubles on Saturday. You will sign up with a partner, so be sure you’ve got your partner lined up!

Remember, there is NO Cost to play in either PicklePals or the Tournament. The costs are covered by your annual dues! No non-LPC members are allowed to participate!

    PARKS AND RECREATION SURVEY

I received this email from Dan Willadsen yesterday. Dan is the Parks Division Manager and the person most responsible for making the new courts at Osborn happen.

PLEASE TAKE 10 MINUTES AND COMPLETE THE SURVEY!

I want to share a link to all members of the Loveland Pickleball Club.  The City of Loveland Parks and Recreation Department has started working on a major update to our master plan.  Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?  Well, not the most thrilling sound to me, but the information we gather from Loveland citizens help us make decisions on where and what to spend tax dollars on.

For example, should the City build more pickleball courts, softball or baseball fields, or build a new outdoor pool.

Below is a link to our 32-question survey where we hope to gather as much information as possible to inform our master plan development.  This link takes you to the City’s website and the master plan update page.  Once there, please use the QR code to access the survey.

2021 Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update

Thank you for taking to the time to review this email, and I hope you share this survey with as many citizens as possible.

     Kind regards,

    Dan Willadsen

    Parks Manager

    Parks & Recreation Department

    City of Loveland

    NEIGHBORHOOD COURTESY

If you plan to play at Sunnyside or at Osborn, please do not start playing prior to 7:00am. The last thing we need is to create conflict with the neighbors by starting play at 6:00am. If you need to play early, please use Mehaffey or Centennial.

    See you on the courts!

Each team played 3 games in a round robin format, with the top 2 teams in each skill level vying for the gold medal.

Just a couple of quick notes this week.

    LPC SHIRTS

I have one shirt left available. Ladies Short Sleeve, Size Small in Neon Green. Cost $15. Please let me know if you are interested.

    JOHNSTOWN TOURNAMENT

The tournament will take place next Saturday, July 17th, and will include a 30-minute clinic for any new or beginner players. Afterwards, the tournament will be a doubles (individual) round robin to have an even spread of player levels and to have those new to the sport experience proper gameplay.

The tournament is geared towards players at or less than a 3.5 rating, as it will probably not be worth it for players above that level and the difference may be too great with new players.

    Johnstown Tournament.pdf

    CANCELING EVENT REGISTRATIONS

Again this week, there were several players that signed up for the Monday evening Ladder play and then didn't show up. Mark and George put a lot of effort into setting up the groups for these events and players not showing up really messes up the activity.

If you need to cancel for registration for an event, please do so as soon as you possibly can! Follow these simple directions to cancel your registration:

    1. Log onto our website, www.LovelandPickleballClub.com
    2. Find the event to be canceled. It will say "Already Registered" just under the "Register" box.
    3. Click "Already Registered".
    4. A black box will appear labeled "Cancel Registration". Click the box.
    5. It will ask "Are You Sure?"
    6. Click "Cancel Registration"
    7. You're Done!!!

    OSBORN PARK COURTS

Nothing new to report. Hopefully the windscreen will be in soon and the courts can open. We are planning to play there from 8-10am, Monday through Friday.

Watch for more details when the courts are ready.

    See you on the courts!
