    Hi all,

Here are the latest updates for LPC:

LOCK YOUR CAR AND SECURE YOUR VALUABLES

During the LPC Spring Mixer at Mehaffey Park, 3 vehicles were broken into and purses were stolen. Unfortunately, this also happened last year at both Centennial Park and Spring Canyon Park.

Always lock your vehicles! If you must leave valuables in your vehicle, keep them out of sight or inside locked compartments.

The Loveland Police Department was notified of the break-ins.

    RESERVERD COURTS FOR LPC MEMBERS

Please remember that LPC reserves courts every week so that LPC members can drop by and play. The court reservations are on our website. Each reservation has skill level recommendations, though all members are welcome. Please be kind and inclusive to others!

We'd appreciate it if you'd sign up on Playtime Scheduler for the LPC reserved sessions you attend. Sign up data helps us make better decisions on reservation times, locations, and skill levels. Thank you in advance!

In the next few days, we're going to send out a poll to all our active LPC members about your experiences with our reserved courts and play times. Your answers influence future court scheduling!

    LPC ADMINISTRATOR FOR PLAYTIME SCHEDULER

One of our LPC members very generously gave LPC a Playtime Scheduler Power User account so that we can post our reserved play times. We're looking for a volunteer to administer Playtime Scheduler for the LPC. Please respond to this email if you are interested.

    See you on the courts!

    December 28, 2021

    Good afternoon everyone,

    JOHN ERICKSON

I am sorry to report that John Erickson lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, December 26. John and his wife, Sue, were two of the original pickleball players in Loveland. Those of us that knew John remember that he always had a big smile on his face and was always happy to see you. He will be missed by everyone that came in contact with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sue and the family as they go through this difficult time.

    END OF THE YEAR

I will send my final end-of-the-year report to the membership next week. It has been another amazing year and it has been great to get to know you all and enjoy our time together on the courts.

    SUMMER CLINICS

We will begin registration for summer clinics within the next few weeks. We are nearly finalized on plans for three separate sets of clinics again this year.  Wendy Rexroth and Daniel Smith will be leading the initial pickleball camp the weekend of April 30 – May 1. Sarah Ansboury is planning to come back in 2022 and we hope to have her in June this year. Justin Hamel will bring his championship-winning style in late July or August.

All of our camps and clinics typically sell out very quickly, so be watching for the details when they come out.  Remember, your membership must be current to be able to register for the clinics!

    USED PADDLES

I know that Santa brought some of you a new paddle for Christmas and that you might now have an extra paddle.  There are always new people learning to play the game that are in need of gently used paddles. If you have one of those and would like to sell it, please let me know.

    PICKLEBALL CLASSES

Registration is open for people interested in learning how to play the game. Level 1 – Basic Pickleball Skills and Level 2 Mentored Play classes are now open for enrollment through the Chilson Center. Classes consist of four, two-hour sessions and cost $40 per person. The January classes are nearly full, but there is still plenty of room in the February Level 1 classes. February Level 2 classes are full.

Contact the Chilson front desk at 970-962-2386 for more information.

    SUMMER PICKLEBALL LEAGUES

The Parks Department is currently working on putting together plans for pickleball league play again this summer. If you have any thoughts and ideas for a format that you would like to see, please contact me as soon as possible. We’re planning to run three separate sessions again this summer, each session will be five weeks long.

    MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL

The first renewal notices began going out to members on December 18. You will receive a notice two weeks prior to your expiration date and again 24 hours prior.  Your membership will lapse on your membership date if you have not renewed by then. You will receive one final notice thirty days past your lapsed date and will be dropped from the membership roles after that. Please be sure to get your membership renewed on a timely basis so that you don’t miss out on any of the news from the Club.

    NEW YEARS PICKLEBALL RESOLUTIONS

    By Frank Cerabino

    1. I will not blame the wind every time I hit a drop-shot into the net – especially when playing indoors.
    2. I will call kitchen-line foot faults against myself at all times during rec play (until the score reaches 8.)
    3. I will not hit a hard smash directly at a vulnerable opponent who hasn’t already left a red mark on me during the same game.
    4. I will avoid taking issue with an opponent’s line call, and if that’s not possible, I will avoid saying something like, “Even Stevie Wonder would have called that in!”
    5. I will be kind to new players learning the game, because you never know: One day one of them might be your orthopedic surgeon.
    6. I will not pretend to inspect the ball for cracks after I muff an easy return.
    7. I will not judge a book by its cover, but if I find myself playing against somebody who has one of those suction cups on the end of the paddle handle, I will keep the ball low.
    8. When playing pickleball with somebody who stops play to answer cell phone calls on the court, I will not derisively refer to that person as “Prime Minister” for the rest of the session.
    9. I will spend less time watching YouTube pickleball videos while on Zoom calls at work.
    10. I will not buy more than three paddles this year, unless I win the lottery or improve my skill rating by more than half-a-point.

    See you on the courts!

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

Twas the day before Christmas and out on the courts

Were all types of people in tennies and shorts.

All of them beaming and shouting with joy, happy as children with a new Christmas toy.

Out of their bags, colorful paddles appeared. To the kitchen they scurried, lined up, and cheered.

Let's dink it and drop it, let's volley and kill. The balls started bouncing as if without will.

The sound from the paddles and balls as they rose, moved all of the players to the tips of their toes.

Cross court and forward, balls had started to fly when appeared an old player with a wink in his eye.

Dressed all in red from his head to his toe, a smile on his face and a warm, cheery glow.

“0-0-2” he shouted as he served me the ball. He moved like the wind, barely saw him at all.

Then all of a sudden, it was 11 to 0. As we lightly touched paddles, he said he must go.

Before I asked where, he disappeared in a haze, but I heard his farewell while still in my daze

"Keep playing and laughing and having your fun. Merry Pickleball to all, my work here is done!

    See you on the courts!

    September 27, 2021

    Good morning everyone!

    JERRY GREEN

For those who may not have yet heard the sad news, we lost another longtime member of the Northern Colorado Pickleball community last week. Jerry Green passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Many of Jerry's friends are planning a Memorial Extravaganza on October 24 at Spring Canyon in Jerry's honor.

Join us for some great pickleball and friends sharing stories about Jerry. This will be a Northern Colorado regional event for all of Jerry's friends and acquaintances.

Bring some food to share (pot luck style) and whatever beverages you'll enjoy.

We will run a paddle stack style event with courts designated for 2.5-3.0 beginner, 3.5 intermediate and 4.0+ advanced.

Proceeds will go towards a memorial bench or plaque to commemorate Jerry's contribution to the pickleball community.

    NORCO PICKLEBALL

The Open House at NORCO last Tuesday was a great success! I'm still waiting on final numbers from NORCO, but I believe there were nearly 300 people that came to participate or observe. Great crowd!

Thanks to all of you that volunteered your time and talents to assist in the event. It wouldn't have been as successful without you!

Please click on the link below for more information on Tuesday and Thursday open play and a Friday evening league at NORCO.
